Private Faith

I crave liturgy. So do you. We were made that way.

I can create a nice service to enjoy. Just me and God and Jesus and the Holy Spirit. It’s private. It’s quiet. There’s probably a candle. There might be strong feelings or just motions. It’s good and intimate.

But, this faith, it just can’t be private. Inwardly, I must have this time. But there is an outward journey too—where my faith intersects with yours and we are interwoven into a body. We are made that way.

It’s a hard thing this sharing….hasn’t that been our constant struggle since we were two years old? I mean life would be easier without all these people around, right? Or would there be life at all? God certainly chose people over easy.

So, we take  Bonhoeffer‘s advice, we must throw our arms open wide. We assume our Christ-stance with arms stretched. Open to love. Seizing not just the day but all. Putting away reserve and safe-up gear forever.

Dance on the meadow with Jesus.

Just don’t do it alone.

Spin and twirl with everyone, weaving us all together into that beautiful Bride that He’s always dreamed of.

Oh, and if you don’t know about the dance, you are invited. It’s probably not what you think it is. God is waiting for you…..hand held out. Maybe for a waltz or perhaps even the polka.

“I, Jesus, have sent my angel to give you this testimony for the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, and the bright Morning Star.”The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let the one who hears say, “Come!” Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life.” Revelation 22:16-17 (NIV)
