Tongues swell and our faces tighten.
Do we even know that we are thirsty?
We hear Your thunder close.
We need what we do not understand.
Rain buckets on us, O God.
We want what we do not need.
In our twisted minds, the desert seems safe.
You offer fertility and singing grass…even in the desert.
Why do you want us?
There is life and wholeness that can split through the agony.
Your Love washes.
Contentment and joy are poured out.
Why do you come to the desert too?
Why aren’t we thirsty?
